Training Program at THBHS
Doctoral Externship Training Program
Touching Hearts Behavioral Health Services PLLC is excited to announce an opening for 1 psychology extern. Touching Hearts BHS is a growing practice that primarily serves children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide array of emotional and behavioral concerns. A clinical psychology externship is available for an advanced doctoral student in years 3- or 4 interested in gaining more in-depth psychological evaluation skills, working with complex cases among a culturally diverse population. The externship emphasizes critical thinking and the application of culturally-responsive interventions working with a diverse population of children, adolescents, and young adults. Comprehensive evaluations are conducted including psychoeducational, neuropsychological, socioemotional, and autism evaluations.
The extern will work closely with the training director in assessment, report preparation, chart and history review, and participation in family intakes and feedback sessions. The duration of the externship is September 1st-June 30th (with flexibility on the start and end dates) and requires 2 days a week (between Monday-Thursday) for a minimum of 12 hours per week. In addition, the extern must be available for 1-hour of supervision per week. No stipend is offered at this time.
Training Approach
Supervision is developmental and highly reflective with a particular emphasis on self-awareness, building autonomy, and mastery in psychological assessment. The extern will gain advanced skills in conducting end-to-end psychological evaluations among a diverse clientele of children, adolescents, and young adults.
Eligibility:

Clinical Psychology Doctoral Students (Psy.D./Ph.D.) in 3rd or 4th year of graduate training

At least 2-years of practicum/externship training in assessment

Basic coursework in psychological assessment is required

Experience working with children and adolescents (preferred)
